A “thank you” morning tea was hosted by the LifeFlight Foundation in Kingaroy on Tuesday for the many volunteers who have worked hard raising funds over the past 12 months for the rescue helicopter operation.<\/p>\n

A highlight was the presentation of a cheque for $48,367.06 to LifeFlight from the Kingaroy Men’s Shed, the proceeds from this year’s Dinner Under The Stars in March.<\/p>\n

LifeFlight Regional Ambassadors Cr Danita Potter and Kingaroy businesswoman Susan Robertson also spoke.<\/p>\n

Danita shared the many times her family members had been helped by LifeFlight, becoming emotional while talking about a recent incident involving her mother.<\/p>\n

Susan said she had been involved in fundraising for LifeFlight for about eight years.<\/p>\n

“Every time I hear the helicopter overhead, I am so grateful,” she said.<\/p>\n

Former Goomeri police officer Warren Lohmann recalled the many serious crashes he had attended on the Bunya, Burnett and Wide Bay highways – and the number of lives saved by the rescue helicopter service, QAS and Queensland hospitals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also praised the fundraising efforts of the Tansey Bowls Club which raised $6255 for LifeFlight at the weekend, with another $5000 to be added from the Hand Heart Pocket project via support from the Boonara Masonic Lodge.<\/p>\n

Warren, who is also a member of Wondai Lions Club, said the club had also raised about $4000 for LifeFlight from the donation tin at the Driver Reviver stand in Wondai.<\/p>\n

LifeFlight community engagement lead for the Sunshine Coast \/ South Burnett, Amy Agius, said the thank you morning tea coincided with National Volunteer Week.<\/p>\n

She said there were plenty of volunteer opportunities to help LifeFlight, from collecting donation tins to organising community events.<\/p>\n
