Three new exhibitions have taken over the walls of the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery for May.<\/p>\n

Members of the Kingaroy Art Team (KAT) – the volunteer group which runs the gallery on behalf of the South Burnett Regional Council – have works in the main space.<\/p>\n

Visitors are invited to look over these works and vote for their People’s Choice, with the winner taking home a $500 prize.<\/p>\n

In the back galley, Year 11 and 12 students from Saint Mary’s Catholic College in Kingaroy have their art pieces on display.<\/p>\n

Teacher Bronwyn Langford Martoo said the works were created after the students enjoyed an excursion to the gallery and surrounding streets.<\/p>\n

In Gallery 3, the artists who meet every week at the Biscuit Tin in the Kingaroy Neighbourhood Centre (Centacare) are featured.<\/p>\n

Many of these artists have never exhibited before but are very proud about what they have created.<\/p>\n

The exhibitions were officially opened last Friday night by South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Kingaroy Art Gallery’s next major event will be the Queensland Winter Craft Festival which will fill the gallery with displays and workshops during June and July.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The official opening will be at 5:00pm on Friday, June 5.<\/p>\n

A brochure which details all the workshops on offer (book early, as they sell out quickly!) can be picked up at the Kingaroy Gallery.<\/p>\n

The annual Quilt Trail, which is a popular part of the festival, will be held on July 18-19 (details of the venues will be published closer to the event).<\/p>\n

A quilt, donated to the galley, is currently being raffled to raise funds for the South Burnett Support Alliance (the group which organises the free meals on Wednesday nights at the Salvation Army Hall in Kingaroy).<\/p>\n

Tickets can be bought at the gallery and the prize will be drawn in July.<\/p>\n
