A morning tea was held in Kingaroy on Thursday morning to mark the 50th anniversary of Probus in Australia.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Probus Club began 26 years ago, and three of the founding members – Ron and Jeanette Knopke, and Val Garrett – were present at the morning tea and cut the birthday cake.<\/p>\n

Special guests who attended via videolink were Probus Queensland vice-president Mark Illingworth and Probus South Pacific Qld representative Caroline Nelson.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff congratulated the Kingaroy Club members on the anniversary.<\/p>\n

Probus is a community service of Rotary.<\/p>\n

It provides a social outlet and activities for active members of the community who are no longer working full-time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are more than 150 Probus clubs in Queensland with about 11,000 members.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy club, which has about 60 members, meets on the first Tuesday of every month in the Town Hall Reception Room in Glendon Street, Kingaroy.<\/p>\n
