Former South Burnett resident Liz Caffery will be launching her latest book at a special function in Kingaroy next month.<\/p>\n

“Captain Of His Destiny” is a biography of an amazing man and Kingaroy resident, Elizabeth’s uncle, the late Jim Burns.<\/p>\n

Jim was a severely disabled polio paraplegic who was determined to defy his disability to live a “normal” life.<\/p>\n

“He became a brilliant violinist, teacher, concert conductor, adventurer, family mentor and friend to many,” Liz said.<\/p>\n

“It has taken me 45 years to complete this book which I first began shortly after Jim\u2019s death in 1979.”<\/p>\n

Jim was well-known for his music shop in Kingaroy Street, his concerts, his bands and, of course, his music lessons.<\/p>\n

The book launch will be held from 2:00pm on Saturday, June 6, at St Mary’s Catholic Church Hall in Albert Street, Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guest speaker will be another well-known Kingaroy resident and musician, Moya Hayden.<\/p>\n

Light refreshments will be served after the book launch.<\/p>\n
