Proston is the latest South Burnett town to get a dedicated Containers For Change authorised container refund point.<\/p>\n

The modified half-size shipping container was lowered into position near the Proston Men’s Shed building last Monday.<\/p>\n

It will emptied every Thursday by Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council workers from the Kingaroy Containers For Change depot.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy manager Christine Beresford said the first pick-up would occur this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Proston container refund point joins others maintained by Cherbourg Council in Blackbutt, Yarraman and Wondai.<\/p>\n

These are on top of the main receival depots in Kingaroy and Cherbourg, and the part-time depot in Nanango.<\/p>\n

Christine said the Proston Men’s Shed had told her they had already received a lot of positive feedback from residents.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Local community members and (residents from) Hivesville, Mondure, Coverty and Windera can return their containers and save themselves the travel to Kingaroy or Cherbourg unless they have a bulk load to return,” she said.<\/p>\n

The process at any of the authorised container refund points is simple: Residents bag their Containers For Change 10c items, tag the bag with their name, phone number and member number (get this online<\/a><\/strong>) and drop the bag in. The refund money will be paid into a nominated bank account after it is sorted back in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Any unlabelled items left at the Proston refund point will be put towards the Proston Men’s Shed account.<\/p>\n

Christine said that as well as the depots and refund points, the Kingaroy deport also had 60 business partners who have been given special wheelie bins and 25 schools, keeping thousands of items every week out of landfill.<\/p>\n
