A few light showers on Saturday morning didn’t deter the crowds from attending Kingaroy’s big two-day show at the weekend.<\/p>\n

“It’s your town, it’s your show … thank you for coming!” former show society president Gary Barron said at the official opening on Saturday, which was shifted into the bar area due to the light rain.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Show always features a big sideshow alley, busy pavilions, keenly contested woodchopping and lots of stalls for visitors to explore.<\/p>\n

Other highlights this year included the tractor pulls, a massive fireworks display on Saturday night and, of course, the speedway on Sunday night (results below).<\/p>\n

The 118th Kingaroy Show was officially opened by Member for Nanango, Attorney-General Deb Frecklington.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She said she loved country shows, which were the lifeblood of local communities.<\/p>\n

“We can showcase all of our produce and everything from the horses to the cattle to the chooks,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

She also thanked the exhibitors and the sponsors for supporting the show and called for a round of applause for the Showgirls and Rural Ambassadors.<\/p>\n

“These guys are the future of South Burnett shows,” she said.<\/p>\n

Young Judges<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Queensland Governor Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM was called upon to sash the winners of the Young Judges competitions on Friday afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The winners will now compete against the winners at other South Burnett shows for the right to represent the South Burnett Sub-Chamber at the Brisbane Ekka.<\/p>\n
