{"id":371441,"date":"2026-04-23T16:19:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T06:19:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=371441"},"modified":"2026-04-23T16:21:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T06:21:05","slug":"adult-time-list-expands-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2026\/04\/23\/adult-time-list-expands-again\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Adult Time&#8217; List Expands Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>April 23, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The State Government has added another 12 offences to its &#8220;Adult Crime, Adult Time&#8221; list, as well as strengthening laws targeting first-time drug offenders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The 12 \u202fnew Adult Crime, Adult Time offences are:\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm<\/li>\n<li>Conspiring to murder<\/li>\n<li>Unlawful stalking, intimidation,\u202fharassment\u202for abuse<\/li>\n<li>Riot<\/li>\n<li>Abuse of persons with an impairment of the mind<\/li>\n<li>Indecent treatment of a child under the age of 16<\/li>\n<li>Choking, suffocation, or strangulation in a domestic setting<\/li>\n<li>Disabling\u202fin order to\u202fcommit an indictable offence<\/li>\n<li>Stupefying\u202fin order to\u202fcommit an indictable offence<\/li>\n<li>Endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle with intent<\/li>\n<li>Aiding suicide<\/li>\n<li>Administering poison with intent to harm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is the third time that more offences have been added to the LNP&#8217;s &#8220;Adult Crime, Adult Time&#8221; list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The latest legislation also ends the &#8220;three strikes&#8221; drug diversion program for people caught with small quantities of illegal drugs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under the old scheme, police could issue a warning on the first offence and then make up to two referrals for drug diversion before a repeat offender actually entered the justice system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Now a first-time offender will be fined but this can be cancelled if they participate in a drug diversion program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">If they fail the program, the fine would be re-instated.<\/p>\n<p>The new legislation also allows police to ban offenders from designated business and community precincts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related articles:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2026\/03\/02\/more-adult-time-offences\/\"><strong>More &#8216;Adult Time&#8217; Offences<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2025\/04\/02\/adult-time-crimes-expanded\/\">&#8216;Adult Time&#8217; Crimes Expanded<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2024\/12\/13\/mps-back-adult-crime-adult-time\/\">MPs Back &#8216;Adult Crime, Adult Time&#8217;<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2024\/12\/10\/mp-defends-youth-crime-bill\/\">MP Defends Youth Crime Bill<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2024\/11\/28\/adult-crime-adult-time-bill-drafted\/\">\u2018Adult Crime, Adult Time\u2019 Bill Drafted<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The State Government has added another 12 offences to its &#8220;Adult Crime, Adult Time&#8221; list, as well as strengthening laws targeting first-time drug offenders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":313811,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,24],"tags":[1132],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
