Three South Burnett projects have been successful under the inaugural round of the State Government’s Honouring Our Veterans grants program.<\/p>\n

The four-year, $6 million funding scheme is designed to support building improvements, war memorials, buying new equipment or holding special events.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy-Memerambi RSL Sub-Branch plans to use two grants to develop a veteran’s drop-in centre on a vacant block opposite Memorial Park in Haly Street, Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Sub-Branch secretary Steve Reynolds said construction would start soon, with footings to be prepared for pre-fabricated building components.<\/p>\n

The new building would also house an exhibition highlighting veterans’ achievements.<\/p>\n

The Sub-Branch previously owned the Kingaroy Veterans Centre in Kingaroy Street but sold this building in January this year.<\/p>\n
