The National Farmers Federation (NFF)\u00a0 is inviting farmers to sign up to its gap-year employment program, AgCAREERSTART.<\/p>\n

The program connects young people who are interested in spending an agricultural gap year with farmers who are looking to hire workers.<\/p>\n

NFF president Hamish McIntyre urged producers to take advantage of the opportunity.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you know a farmer who needs a junior farmhand, please reach out to the AgCAREERSTART team, or apply via the AgCAREERSTART website,\u201d Mr McIntyre said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than 100 candidates have been shortlisted and are ready to begin on\u2011farm roles immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgCAREERSTART has been a game\u2011changer for many farmers and young Aussies alike.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese 18 to 25-year-olds are genuine, full of energy and eager to learn.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey quickly become valuable members of the team, often staying on-farm for a number of years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr McIntyre said the 2026 cohort still needed more farmers to sign on.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had more participants this year than we\u2019ve had farms for them to go to,\u201d Mr McIntyre said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we\u2019re putting a final call-out for producers who\u2019d like to host an AgCAREERSTART participant on their farm in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have incredible candidates ready to go, and the on-going support from the team makes the process extremely smooth for farmers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis invaluable program builds skills, supports regional industries, and connects young Australians with meaningful career pathways in agriculture.<\/p>\n

AgCAREERSTART is delivered by the NFF in partnership with GRDC, AgriFutures, Prime Super, FarmSafe Australia, Regional Tech Hub, Pinata Farms and Agriculture Jobs Auswide.<\/p>\n
