The Salvation Army’s South Burnett Corps has a new church leader, but he’s no stranger to the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

Seath Holswich has been travelling regularly to the region over the past seven years to enjoy holidays at Lake Boondooma with friends from his former North Brisbane congregation.<\/p>\n

The North Brisbane church had a special connection with the South Burnett, deciding as a larger congregation to support a smaller church.<\/p>\n

Last September, Seath brought a worship team up from Brisbane for a special gathering in Kingaroy at which Seath presided.<\/p>\n

When the position as church leader in Kingaroy became vacant, Seath consulted his wife Elissa and prayed before making the big decision to uproot his family and shift to the South Burnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I felt a distinct calling towards this job at this particular location,” he said.<\/p>\n

“This is the first time we have moved outside Brisbane as a family so it is not something we did lightly.”<\/p>\n

Seath arrived in March, but has been travelling backwards and forwards since then to Brisbane ahead of the rest of the family moving up permanently.<\/p>\n

He has had a lifelong involvement with the Salvos, and formerly was a case worker in the Salvation Army’s homelessness team, working with veterans across Queensland.<\/p>\n

In another role, Seath also served one term in State Parliament, as the LNP Member for Pine Rivers from 2012 to 2015.<\/p>\n

Seath will be officially installed as the new South Burnett church leader at the Salvos’ 10:00am service in Kingaroy this Sunday (April 12).<\/strong><\/p>\n
