Saints wrapped up their inaugural year in the South Burnett Cricket Association’s senior competition by overwhelming Wooroolin Warriors in the Grand Final played at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy last weekend.<\/p>\n

Saints dominated all season, losing only one game when an under-strength team was defeated by Wondai Wolves in Round 3.<\/p>\n

Warriors had a harder path to last Saturday’s game, earning their Grand Final spot by downing second-placed Kingaroy Services in the Preliminary Final.<\/p>\n

Saints won the toss and elected to bat.<\/p>\n

Warriors started strongly.\u00a0Opener Nathan Trace survived an appeal off the first ball, sent down by John-Paul\u00a0Schultz, and went on to score just 11 runs, including two boundaries, before being bowled by Roger Hoare.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fellow opener Keegan Wright was out for a duck, caught out by Isaac Hauritz off a Schultz delivery.<\/p>\n

Top-scorer Brendan Ferguson (45) steadied the ship alongside useful partnerships with Jack Mines (11) and Brad Edwards (23).<\/p>\n

Saints were all out for 139 in the last over.<\/p>\n

Matt Nesbitt (3\/16 off 7.1 overs) and Roger Hoare (2\/17 off eight overs, including three maidens) finished with the best bowling figures for Warriors.<\/p>\n

In reply, Warriors’ batters were tested by the Saints, with John-Paul Schultz (37 not out) and Isaac Hauritz (14) top scoring.<\/p>\n

Wooroolin were bowled out for 78 in the 23rd over.<\/p>\n

After starring with the bat, Brendan Ferguson took an amazing 4\/1 off 3.4 overs, including two maidens!<\/p>\n

Jack Mines also took four wickets: 4\/20 off seven overs including one maiden.<\/p>\n

Footnote: The Saints’ club members were back in action at Lyle Vidler Oval the next day, working hard to prepare the field ahead of the upcoming Australian Rules season.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Murgon (172) defeated Nanango Scorpions (171) at Alan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Murgon won the toss and elected to bowl.<\/p>\n

Sidney\u00a0Vere<\/span> (20) and Mitch Mangan (19) were was the top-scorers for Nanango; Max\u00a0Schulz took 2\/7 for Murgon.<\/span><\/p>\n

In reply, Austin\u00a0Mawhinney (20) was the top-scorer for Murgon; James Brown took 3\/22 for Nanango.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stage 3 Grand Final<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Murgon (8\/152) defeated Nanango Scorpions (7\/150) at Alan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Murgon won the toss and elected to bowl.<\/p>\n

Mac Smith (30), Dominic Ward (25), Caleb Schipanski (24) and Beau Laherty (24 not out)\u00a0 added valuable runs for Nanango; Khal Gscheidle took 3\/9 for Murgon.<\/p>\n
