Lutheran Services celebrated the 10th anniversary of its outreach support service, South Burnett Community Services, at a small morning tea at Orana Aged Care in Kingaroy on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Community Services was set up in 2016 to help South Burnett residents with a disability or mental health concerns to live well, build skills and stay connected to the community<\/p>\n

The morning tea was attended by Lutheran Services’ staff members, Orana residents and representatives from the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Local singer-songwriter Amber Goldsmith entertained with music, and visitors were invited to take part in various craft activities.<\/p>\n

Lutheran Services\u2019 team leader Leesa Osborne said South Burnett Community Services began after research identified gaps in mental health support in the community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe research found a clear need for more personalised and individualised support in South Burnett, which led to the creation of an outreach peer support program to help connect people with the services they needed,\u201d Mrs Osborne said.<\/p>\n

She said the service, which is a registered NDIS provider, had expanded over the past decade from a single worker to a dedicated team.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we provide support co-ordination as well as in-home and community support for people living with disability, helping them build independence, access services and stay connected to their local community,” Mrs Osborne said.<\/p>\n
