Volunteers from BlazeAid will be coming to the South Burnett within weeks to assist with the clean-up after the recent flash flooding in the region.<\/p>\n

Wednesday’s South Burnett Regional Council meeting was told the South Burnett Local Disaster Recovery Group (LDRG) had secured the support of BlazeAid, with a volunteer camp to be based at the South Burnett PCYC in Murgon.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kathy Duff said BlazeAid volunteers would be helping to restore fencing.<\/p>\n

BlazeAid CEO Melissa Jones told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> the camp would be set up after the ground starts dries out.<\/p>\n

The volunteers would be working to assist farmers in the worst-hit parts of the South Burnett and Gympie regional council areas.<\/p>\n

BlazeAid camps have been set up in the South Burnett at least five times in recent years after natural disasters.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The organisation was the brainchild of Victorian farmers Kevin and Rhonda Butler after the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009.<\/p>\n

It helps to marshal volunteers to work alongside families and individuals across Australia after natural disasters such as bushfires and floods.<\/p>\n
