A small ceremony was held at First Settlers’ Park in Benarkin last week to officially open a new piece of playground equipment for local children.<\/p>\n

The flying fox was installed by the South Burnett Regional Council and adds to other equipment in the park.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to acknowledge the residents of Benarkin for their commitment and advocacy for this activity in the playground area,” Cr Linda Little said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“They have waited a long time for this piece of equipment for the youth of Benarkin and Blackbutt.”<\/p>\n

Council supplied ice blocks and drinks at the opening, which attracted a number of children eager to have a go.<\/p>\n

After cutting the ribbon, Mayor Duff also took a ride on the flying fox … and didn’t even lose her hat!<\/p>\n

The park upgrade was funded by Council\u2019s Capital Works program.<\/p>\n
