Well-known Kingaroy Justice of the Peace Marie Shaw has stamped her last document at the Kingaroy Library.<\/p>\n

The former Kingaroy Shire councillor has been a familiar face on the “JPs In The Community” roster since the JPs shifted to the library in November 2021.<\/p>\n

And before that, she was behind the JPs’ table in the Kingaroy Mall.<\/p>\n

A small thank you morning tea was organised last week at the library by fellow volunteer Barry Krosch.<\/p>\n

Marie was presented with flowers and thank you certificate by Leanne Hams, from the Nanango Electorate Office, on behalf of Attorney-General Deb Frecklington.<\/p>\n

Leanne said Marie had made a “massive contribution” to the community over her more than 30 years’ service as a JP.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Marie was on Council for 17 years, and has served on just about every local committee, from the school P&C and police consultative committee to the Kingaroy Christmas Carnival and the South Burnett CTC Board (just to name a few).<\/p>\n

She said she enjoyed volunteering as a JP at the library “because of the people you meet here” but as she was “almost 86” she thought it was time to step back from the commitment of being part of the JP roster, however she has no intention of hanging up her JP stamp completely.<\/p>\n

Marie will still be available to do other JP work for the community when she is called upon.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Library staff members, who also presented Marie with small gifts, said they would miss her being at the library.<\/p>\n
