The South Burnett Boars have recorded back-to-back victories in the prestigious Goodchild Shield cricket competition, notching up a big win over Bundaberg.<\/p>\n

The Wide Bay competition pits the best senior players from Gympie, the Fraser Coast, Bundaberg and the South Burnett against each other in three rounds of games.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett went through this year’s competition unbeaten to line up against arch-rivals Bundaberg in the final played on Sunday at Murgon Showgrounds.<\/p>\n

The two teams have been testing each other for years.<\/p>\n

Bundaberg were victorious in 2022, the South Burnett in 2023, Bundaberg in 2024 and the South Burnett in a nailbiter last year.<\/p>\n

Bundaberg won the toss on Sunday and sent the Boars in to bat.<\/p>\n

Opening batter Sam Dennien, who was named Player of the Match, got the locals off to a great start, hitting 69 runs to be the South Burnett’s top scorer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Captain Jared Sippel also shone, hitting 38 runs off 27 balls, including four 4s and two 6s.<\/p>\n

South Burnett were all out for 201 in the 46th over.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett bowlers ripped through the Bundaberg line-up in reply, getting the visitors all out for 104 in 36 overs.<\/p>\n

Kieran Askin took six wickets – including a caught and bowled – to finish with 6\/27 off 10 overs, including one maiden.<\/p>\n

Riley, Harry and Jared Sippel and Tom Carney finished off the Bundaberg roster.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
