A flying fox is being added to the playground equipment at First Settlers Memorial Park in Benarkin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

January 29, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council plans to add a flying fox to the play equipment in First Settlers’ Memorial Park at Benarkin.<\/p>\n

Work to install the flying fox and woodchip softfall is scheduled to begin early next month.<\/p>\n

The area will be fenced off during construction.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to acknowledge the residents of Benarkin for their commitment and advocacy for this activity in the playground area,” Cr Linda Little said.<\/p>\n

“They have waited a long time for this piece of equipment for the youth of Benarkin and Blackbutt.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I know that the youth are eagerly awaiting the completion of this flying fox.”<\/p>\n

Funding for this project had come from the SBRC’s capital works program.<\/p>\n

It is expected that works will be completed by Easter, weather permitting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
