Three South Burnett rural firefighters were thanked for their especially diligent volunteer service at a ceremony in Kingaroy on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service Rural Operations Director Gary Seaman, from district headquarters at Caloundra, presented the trio with Diligent and Ethical Service medals.<\/p>\n

He said volunteers had to have at least 10 years’ service to be eligible to receive the award, however it was not simply a reward for long service.<\/p>\n

Recipients are nominated by their colleagues and must have displayed more than just service.<\/p>\n

“They must have gone above what it is to be a member of a rural fire brigade,” Mr Seaman said.<\/p>\n

The medals were presented to James Barclay (who volunteered at Ellesmere before joining Maidenwell brigade – total service about 25 years), and Ralph Tennant Taromeo – 19 years) and Russell French (Taromeo – 24 years).<\/p>\n

The ceremony, at the Tobruk Room in the Kingaroy RSL, was made in front of colleagues who had gathered to attend a Crew Leader Course and a Secretary \/ Treasurer workshop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
