Cherbourg State School recently hosted a “Stop Domestic Violence Day” to help raise awareness among students about where they could turn to for help if they ever felt scared at home or in the community.<\/p>\n

Staff were on hand from the Women’s Shelter at Cherbourg as well as South Burnett CTC.<\/p>\n

The Wakka Wakka junior dancers also performed.<\/p>\n

Family support worker Patti Bond said there had been a lot of positive outcomes in the community over the past few years.<\/p>\n

And there had also been a lot of effort put into educating children at the school, to reach children who may be exposed to violence at home or in the community.<\/p>\n

But she said if children ever felt frightened or scared by adult behaviour, they should talk to other members of their extended family, police or other adults that they felt comfortable with.<\/p>\n
