The amazing journey that Rockin Our Abilities has been on since 2021 culminated in a massive concert at Kingaroy Town Hall on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

The group, which provides drama and music opportunities for people with a disability, grew out of an idea that Sonia McMahon had in her lounge room about six years ago.<\/p>\n

She had worked with a similar music program on the Sunshine Coast, and recognised there was a need in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

From tiny beginnings – just five people – the group filled the stage (and the town hall) on Saturday for its 10th concert.<\/p>\n

Rockin Our Abilities meets at the Uniting Church Hall in Gore Street, Murgon, but will be opening a Kingaroy chapter on January 28.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sonia promised there would be something for everyone at the concert … and there was! From country music to big band nostalgia, KISS and Elton John.<\/p>\n

A Village People medley – featuring the Trump rally favourite “YMCA” – had the audience joining in with enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

The smiles on the faces of the Rockin Our Abilities crew members showed just how much fun they were having on stage after at least six months practice.<\/p>\n

At the end of the concert, each of the performers was presented with small trophy to mark their 2025 performance.<\/p>\n

Sonia thanked the South Burnett Regional Council and the RADF grants program for supporting the concert; and Brett Chaseling, from Musicians Oasis, for adding the magic with light and sound.<\/p>\n
