Nearly 200 Christmas hampers will be heading out over the next few days to help South Burnett residents enjoy a better Christmas.<\/p>\n

The results of the annual Christmas Food Drive were unveiled by South Burnett CTC to sponsors and supporters on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The hampers will also be distributed by South Burnett Care, Graham House, Centacare and Regional Housing Limited.<\/p>\n

“We are linking up with some of our partner agencies to share the love across the South Burnett,” South Burnett CTC CEO Jason Erbacher said.<\/p>\n

As well as the Christmas hampers, donations have also been set aside for emergency relief packs for distribution as needed throughout the year.<\/p>\n

CTC will also be distributing mince and sausages from a Wagyu beast donated by the Phat Wag at Murgon, as well as 150 pork shoulder roasts donated by Swickers.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The hampers have been packed to suit the recipients, eg. a family of four or a single male; or a homeless person without access to a kitchen.<\/p>\n

Gift vouchers from Martoo Meats and IGA vouchers from the South Burnett Mayor’s Christmas Luncheon will also be distributed.<\/p>\n

Jason thanked the Kingaroy Lions Club for handling a lot of the “logistics” for this year’s hamper drive, including picking up donations from the drop-off points.<\/p>\n

He also thanked the Bill Hull Car Centre, Stanwell, Heritage Bank branches in Nanango and Kingaroy, the Wondai Post Office (five baskets) , Nanango Neighbourhood Centre (six baskets) and Kingaroy Mall (five full trolleys) for collecting donations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Other support came from The Little Butcher, Bunnings Kingaroy, Tranzmile Burnett, Kingaroy Joinery, Global Engineering, Cooinda Craft Group, QCWA Kingaroy Twilight Branch, Prices Plus Kingaroy as well as a total of $4000 cash from individual donors and BUMA.<\/p>\n

Local schools also embraced the campaign including Coolabunia, Kingaroy and Wheatlands State schools; and St John\u2019s Lutheran School hosted free dress and crazy hair days.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are incredibly proud to live and work in a region where people look out for one another,\u201d Jason said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what Christmas spirit looks like, local people supporting local people.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Christmas Food Drive began in 2018 with CTC, Jacqui Trace from Bill Hull Car Centre, and about 60 hampers.<\/p>\n

The new car vehicle dealership changed owners earlier this year but the Bill Hull Car Centre stayed on board.<\/p>\n

Jacqui thanked Eamon Viner, who is now managing the dealership, for continuing to support the hamper initiative.<\/p>\n

CTC Community Services Manager Kirsten Firman said the hampers would make a meaningful difference for individuals and families.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is going to be a very tough Christmas for a lot of people,\u201d Kirsten said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese hampers are a gift for people doing it tough – people we\u2019ve stood beside all year who are working incredibly hard to rebuild stability, safety, and confidence in their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
