Former Somerset councillor Kirsten Moriarty has been identified as the woman found dead inside a vehicle in southern NSW on December 5.<\/p>\n

Ms Moriarty, 48, served on the Somerset Regional Council from 2012 to 2016.<\/p>\n

Her body was found inside a Toyota Yaris sedan parked outside the Lake Illawarra police station at Oak Flats, south of Port Kembla.<\/p>\n

It is unknown how long she had been in the vehicle but she is believed to have entered the police station to make a report three days earlier.<\/p>\n

The former Toogoolawah resident worked for the SRC before being elected as a councillor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She stood for mayor at the 2016 poll, securing 30.92 per cent of the vote but not enough to unseat incumbent Graeme Lehmann.<\/p>\n

It is believed she may have been staying with family members at Kiama at the time of her death.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
