A $115,000 PoolPod Platform Lift, installed earlier this year at the South Burnett Aquatic Centre in Nanango, was officially opened this week.<\/p>\n

The project, which improves pool accessibility for people with a disability, was made possible by a grant from Heritage Nanango Community Funding (HNCF).<\/p>\n

HNCF director Jane Hodgkinson thanked Council for applying for the funding for the project.<\/p>\n

“It is such a dignified way for people who need assistance to get into the pool,” Mrs Hodgkinson said.<\/p>\n

She said the HNCF was a joint venture with the Heritage Bank Nanango which has enabled it to spend millions of dollars on community projects in the Nanango area.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kathy Duff praised the support from Heritage in Nanango, saying she knew other South Burnett towns were very jealous of Nanango.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Contenda Poolpod is powered by rechargeable batteries.<\/p>\n

Two people can use the Pod to enter the pool at the same time, eg. a carer with their client.<\/p>\n
