National Farmers\u2019 Federation has secured a Federal Government commitment to extend “Right to Repair” reforms to agricultural machinery, a win for farmers after years of lobbying.<\/p>\n

Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers confirmed last week that agricultural machinery would be included in national Right to Repair reforms designed to modernise Australia\u2019s economy and lift productivity.<\/p>\n

\u201cFarmers will finally have more freedom to choose who services and repairs their machinery,” NFF president Hamish McIntyre said.<\/p>\n

“That means less downtime, lower costs and more control over their own businesses.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen a machine breaks down in the middle of harvest, waiting on an authorised dealer isn\u2019t just inconvenient, it can cost tens of thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n

“This reform will help farmers stay productive and competitive, which is exactly what farmers and the economy needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

GrainGrowers CEO Shona Gawel said the commitment would ensure fair access to repair options for growers.<\/p>\n
