A pedestrian suffered minor injuries when he was struck by a stolen vehicle in Cherbourg on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Ford Ranger dual cab ute was stolen from a home in Scott Street, Wondai, earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said the Ford Ranger struck a pedestrian before colliding with a parked Isuzu ute.<\/p>\n

southburnett.com.au<\/strong> understands the occupants of the ute had pulled over to chat with the pedestrian, a 27-year-old Cherbourg man, when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Isuzu, a 51-year-old Cherbourg man, did not suffer any physical injuries, however his passenger was later treated for shock.<\/p>\n

The alleged driver of the Ford Ranger, a 14-year-old Cherbourg boy, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving and entering a dwelling and committing an indictable offence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was due to appear in Kingaroy Children’s Court on Monday.<\/p>\n

Investigations are continuing.<\/p>\n

Police have appealed to anyone with information to contact PoliceLink on 131-444.<\/p>\n

Soon after the incident appeared on social media, Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council posted the following statement:<\/em><\/p>\n

Community Safety Update \u2013 We Hear You, Cherbourg<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the past 24 hours many of you have voiced serious concerns about reckless and unsafe behaviour involving stolen vehicles in our community.<\/p>\n

We want everyone to know that your Mayor, Councillors and CEO have heard you clearly \u2014 and we share your frustration and your fears for the safety of our families.<\/p>\n

This kind of behaviour puts lives at risk. Our community should never have to feel unsafe in their own homes, on their own streets, or going about daily business.<\/p>\n

Police are actively responding, and Council is working closely with them.<\/p>\n

A meeting between Cherbourg Council leadership and both local and regional police has already been scheduled as a priority. We are treating this matter with urgency and will continue to advocate strongly for community safety and the support our people deserve.<\/p>\n

We will have more updates for community soon.<\/strong><\/p>\n
