The Choristers – the treble voices from Brisbane’s St John’s Cathedral – paid a visit to the South Burnett last weekend as special guests of the South Burnett Youth Choir.<\/p>\n

The boy choristers of St John’s maintain a tradition of cathedral singing that stretches back to the Middle Ages.<\/p>\n

And on Saturday afternoon, they performed a concert at St Mary’s Anglican Church in Wondai for a small but appreciative audience who took up the rare chance to hear this style of singing in the region.<\/p>\n

Then on Sunday morning, both groups combined to hold a free singing workshop for local children.<\/p>\n

The workshop was led by St John’s Cathedral music director Graham Morton and was very well-attended.<\/p>\n

Mr Morton has been working with church choirs since the age of 17, and has held his position at St John’s since 2011.<\/p>\n
