South Burnett Regional Council has agreed to allow South Burnett Care to use a section of the Pound Street parklands in Kingaroy as a car park.<\/p>\n

The application by SB Care was considered initially at the October general meeting and then left to lay on the table for further investigation.<\/p>\n

At the November general meeting, council staff recommended that SBRC enter into a “non-exclusive Deed of Licence to occupy” with SB Care for five years.<\/p>\n

Council CEO Mark Pitt said SB Care had initially wanted to buy the land but this had been declined.<\/p>\n

The “non-exclusive Deed of Licence to occupy” was the lowest form of tenure available and more appropriate than a lease for community parkland.<\/p>\n

SB Care would agree to mow and maintain the area and pay an annual fee of $75.<\/p>\n

Councillors, who eventually agreed to a two-year arrangement, were told on Wednesday that local businesses had complained to Council about the lack of parking space in the area.<\/p>\n

The agreement with SB Care would be a temporary solution to “significant parking issues”.<\/p>\n

The landscaped parklands were created by members of the Kingaroy Apex Club in the 1970s – with assistance from Kingaroy Shire Council – as part of the club’s Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre project.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council will enter into negotiations with RES Group over the use of an area of land at Kingaroy Airport.<\/strong><\/p>\n

RES is the company which plans to build the Tarong West wind farm project near Ironpot.<\/p>\n

If approved, the airport land would be used for short-term workers’ accommodation.<\/p>\n

The SBRC will submit an offer to the State Government to buy the former Kingaroy Community Health building in the Glendon Street car park in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Council CEO Mark Pitt has been delegated to negotiate a Memorandum of Understanding with the Queensland Blue Light Association for Council to take over the former Blue Light building in George Street, Nanango.<\/p>\n

Councillors voted at Wednesday’s meeting to approve a request from the Wondai & District Men\u2019s Shed to acquire an unused council crib room currently located in Edward Street, Wondai.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Men\u2019s Shed intends to removed the building, fix it up and use it at their proposed new lease site in Wondai.<\/p>\n

The SBRC will not be responsible for costs associated with removing the building nor the works necessary to improve it.<\/p>\n
