Wooroolin Lions Club has received $3500 to put towards a mural project on the old Wooroolin grain sheds<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Powerlink has awarded $44,000 in grants to not-for-profit associations in the local region as part of its $375,000 community grants program.<\/p>\n

The annual program covers 18 council areas in regional Queensland, and this year attracted more than 180 applications.<\/p>\n

Powerlink Community Relations Advisor Ben Galvin said he was pleased to see the response.<\/p>\n

\u201cPowerlink is proud to support these worthy initiatives and to add to the overall wellbeing of the communities in which we operate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Community groups were eligible for up to $5000 in funding, capped at $25,000 per local government area.<\/p>\n

Grants allocated to groups within the South Burnett, Toowoomba and Somerset council areas included:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Returned & Services League of Australia (Qld Branch) Nanango Sub-Branch<\/td>\nWelfare Drop-in Centre roofing project<\/td>\nTo replace the gutters and repair and repaint the fascia on the Veterans’ Welfare Drop-in Centre<\/td>\n$4000<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Kingaroy & District Tennis Association<\/td>\nEnhancing comfort and access at the Kingaroy Tennis Clubhouse<\/td>\nTo install a reverse-cycle air conditioner in the clubhouse to create a comfortable, all-season space, support hire of the facility for wider community use, and enable the club to host meetings and programs year-round<\/td>\n$3000<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
