If you see some large red bows appearing in South Burnett towns, it’s all about celebrating Christmas, building community … and saving money!<\/p>\n

There will also be some smaller wooden trees appearing which residents and groups will be invited to decorate.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kathy Duff said the red bows and wooden trees would be saving the South Burnett Regional Council about $100,000 in decorations.<\/p>\n

All the regular large Christmas trees have already been erected in their usual town locations; the red bows and wooden trees will help to add to the festive feel without blowing the budget.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have purchased metres and metres of red tulle which have been tied into 148 big red bows,” Mayor Duff said.<\/p>\n

“We plan to work with the community to tie these bows in prominent places in every town and village across our region.”<\/p>\n

The wooden trees, made by Men’s Shed members, will also be decorated and placed in main streets or other prominent places.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are hoping that the schools, community groups and individuals will get on board and help to decorate the trees,” Cr Danita Potter said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We want everyone to join in the fun and be involved to help create a festive atmosphere and a real sense of community across our region.”<\/p>\n

The cost of the wooden trees has been covered by South Burnett Regional Council with donations to the Men\u2019s Sheds which made them.<\/p>\n

Interested schools, groups or individuals should contact Mayor Duff or their Divisional councillor if they would like to be involved in tying bows or decorating the wooden trees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
