Work has begun on the Kingaroy Tennis Club’s new amenities block which is being erected beside the courts complex in Oliver Bond Street.<\/p>\n

The all-inclusive facility will include an accessible bathroom with a shower and toilet, as well as four more toilets and another shower.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy and District Tennis Association grants co-ordinator Mieke Elder said the association was very grateful to receive a $197,000 Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Fund grant from the Department of Tourism and Sport for the project.<\/p>\n

This was topped up with $49,000 from the club’s own funds and $3000 support from the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

The modern building replaces an old building which was removed due to concerns about asbestos.<\/p>\n

“This project will make a huge difference for our players and visitors,” Mieke said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“With the new amenities, we\u2019ll be able to welcome more players, families and community members, and host larger tournaments and events.<\/p>\n

“It also supports our partnership with Mr B\u2019s Professional Coaching which delivers inclusive tennis programs and classes that encourage participation for people of all abilities.”<\/p>\n

Mieke said local builders and trades were being used wherever possible.<\/p>\n

The building is being constructed by R&F Steel Buildings in Kingaroy and Fiedler Brothers is handling the plumbing.<\/p>\n

The club hopes to have the building finished by the end of December with an official opening scheduled for the New Year.<\/p>\n
