The 1934 Dodge inside its new home at the Kingaroy Museum in Haly Street<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

For decades, farmers’ trucks trundled down Haly Street in Kingaroy to deliver hessian bags of freshly threshed peanuts to the Peanut Marketing Board …<\/p>\n

The stacked bags are long gone, but echoes of that past now live on, thanks to a generous gift by the Bega Group to the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Bega, which is in the process of winding down its investment in the Peanut Company of Australia, has donated the company’s corporate mascot truck to the Kingaroy Museum.<\/p>\n

The 1934 KC30 Dodge truck was fully restored by PCA in 2008-09 for use in promotions.<\/p>\n

The Dodge is identical to the trucks which formerly delivered peanuts straight from the farm.<\/p>\n

It was officially unveiled at the 2009 Wine and Food in the Park Festival in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The SBRC is just the third owner of the old Dodge.<\/p>\n

It was used on the Melbourne waterfront for many years before passing through the hands of several members of the original owner\u2019s family and ending up in NSW before it was bought by PCA and trailered to Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was lovingly restored in the South Burnett by local experts including the late Gary Sellick and Col O\u2019Hanlon.<\/p>\n

The pinstriping was done by hand by Brendon Leach from BL Custom Signs at Crawford.<\/p>\n

Councillors accepted the donation of the vehicle at their September general meeting.<\/p>\n

They said they were keen to keep the vehicle in working condition, not just as a static display, so although it will be housed at the museum it will also be seen out and about at events.<\/p>\n
