The Pinking Up The South Burnett October fundraiser ended with a bang on Friday night\u00a0 … literally.<\/p>\n

A thunderstorm knocked out the power at the last big event for the month-long exercise to support the McGrath Foundation.<\/p>\n

The BYO dinner at Ringsfield House in Nanango was held by candle and torchlight, but no one seemed to mind.<\/p>\n

And the fact that it was Halloween meant the blackout added to the spooky vibe of the evening.<\/p>\n

A highlight was the auction of a sparkling mosaic art piece, donated by artist local Karen Hibble-Shephard.<\/p>\n

“Miss Reflections” raised $4000 but was then donated back to the McGrath Foundation to display at treatment centres to inspire people facing cancer treatment.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kathy Duff produced a cheque which showed $21,854 (at least) would be donated to the McGrath Foundation to support the local McGrath nurse, Sue Cox.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mayor Duff said the 2025 “Pinking Up” fundraiser had been the most successful so far, with a record amount of funds raised.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy residents Barry and Leanne Krosch helped to launch it with a generous donation of $5000.<\/p>\n

Many events were held across the South Burnett region, including some new ones this year.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Speedway pinked up for the cause and the South Burnett Quarter Horse Cutters held a very successful fundraiser, raising $13,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The McGrath Foundation has branched out recently to not only to provide breast care nurses, but also provide support and help to fund all cancer nurses.<\/p>\n

“We desperately need an all-cancer nurse to support those who have other cancers,” Cr Danita Potter said.<\/p>\n

“Sue Cox does a wonderful job, and we are all getting behind Sue in her push for an all cancer nurse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor Duff, Cr Potter and Sue Cox thanked all the community members who \u201cpinked up\u201d themselves, their towns and their businesses to raise awareness of breast cancer, and ran events to raise funds.<\/p>\n
