Council workers and SES volunteers have been kept busy over the past week with the string of storms crossing the South Burnett … and the Bureau of Meteorology has warned there is more to come.<\/p>\n

The afternoon and evening storms have brought trees down, damaged sheds and fences and caused widespread blackouts.<\/p>\n

Residents have joined with council workers, fire fighters, SES volunteers and police to clear roads.<\/p>\n

On Saturday evening, police and firefighters cleared a fallen tree off the Bunya Highway south of Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Small hail was reported on Friday night at Nanango and Taromeo, and on Saturday night at Kingaroy and Sandy Ridges.<\/p>\n

But on Sunday night, 5cm hail was reported at Coolabunia, 7cm at Yarraman and 8cm at Googa Creek.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A storm and large hail also created havoc at Esk State School’s 150th celebrations on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Nine people were injured, including four who were taken to Ipswich Hospital.<\/p>\n

The weather also affected some events in the South Burnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fundraising evening for the McGrath Foundation was held under candlelight at Ringsfield House in Nanango on Friday night when the power failed.<\/p>\n

The comedians scheduled to perform at the Comedy For A Cause fundraiser for Blackbutt & Benarkin Aged Care Association’s “Greenhills Villas Project” on Saturday night were forced to pull out, although the evening went ahead with other entertainment.<\/p>\n

And some of the stallholders for Sunday’s Honey Bee Festival at Hivesville were also forced to withdraw.<\/p>\n

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a possible severe thunderstorm is likely on Monday afternoon and evening, with damaging winds and large hail likely.<\/strong><\/p>\n
