South Burnett Regional Council has revealed the location for the new Wooroolin skate park, an election promise made by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington ahead of the last State poll.<\/p>\n

The State Government has allocated $150,000 for the new “Wooroolin Skate and Play Area”.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said it would be built at the site of the old Wooroolin tennis courts.<\/p>\n

One of the courts will be turned into a dual-purpose area featuring a basketball half-court as well as a skate area.<\/p>\n

The second court will remain in use for tennis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The area will be closed to the public from Monday, October 13, until Friday, October 24, 2025, to allow construction to begin.<\/p>\n

Contractors will pour a concrete slab that will serve as the foundation for both the basketball court and the skateboarding area.<\/p>\n

Skate ramps will be installed in late November as Stage 1 of the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am excited by the opportunity this provides for young people in our area to get physically active and I thank our local member for her support of this initiative,\u201d Deputy Mayor Ros Heit said.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said she was thrilled to see the skate park progressing from vision to reality.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI have been advocating for this facility ever since I was first approached in 2021 by local boys Harry and Nate. I was so impressed by their passion that I vowed to push for this project to come to fruition,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited about what this means for local young people, families and visitors. Having a safe, modern space to gather, play, and be active is exactly what Wooroolin needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be a wonderful asset for the entire Wooroolin community. \u201d<\/p>\n
