Two of the South Burnett’s best-known artists have taken over the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery this month with a stunning collection of their works.<\/p>\n

Greenview artist Robyn Dower, who was recently elected president of South Burnett Arts Inc, has works in the main gallery plus a whimsical installation in the back gallery.<\/p>\n

Robyn has created everything from tiny liquorice all sorts (definitely not for eating!) to large paintings, rusted sculptures made from items found around a farm, and her famous tiny white mice.<\/p>\n

However, she has excelled herself with her installation … meet George McDonald who is feeding pigeons and chooks (and a magpie) while a horse, dogs, a lamb, a cat and a galah look on.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the installation is a poem written by Robyn’s sister Kay Gorring which explains exactly what’s going on.<\/p>\n

Copies of Kay’s poem are available to take home to relive the magic of George’s little farm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visitors to the gallery have also been invited to write their own short stories to describe the scene and draw some of the characters.<\/p>\n

Robyn said her exhibition was a mix of old, new and experimental pieces.<\/p>\n

She also paid tribute to Kingaroy artist Cherry Carroll, who has works lining the walls in the front gallery – including paintings, prints and silk scarves, many again with a touch of whimsy.<\/p>\n

“Cherry has been an inspiration to so many artists in the area, ” Robyn said.<\/p>\n

Cherry\u2019s\u00a0 exhibition features a mix of genres inviting viewers to explore the wonder of nature.<\/p>\n

Cr Danita Potter, who opened the two exhibitions on Saturday evening, said they were an amazing display of artwork.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I think it is the best exhibition I have ever seen in this gallery,” she said.<\/p>\n

The works, many of which are available to buy, will be on display until November 12.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery is open from 10:00am to 4:00pm Mondays to Thursdays; and 9:00am to 1:00pm on Fridays , Saturdays and public holidays. Entry is free.<\/p>\n
