Kingaroy Police are reminding South Burnett residents that detecting and preventing drink-driving offences is one of the major priorities for local police.<\/p>\n

In the last two weeks of May this year, Kingaroy Police conducted more than 400 breath tests.<\/p>\n

Annual statistics show that drink-driving remains one of the major contributing factors to serious motor vehicle crashes in Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cStudies have shown that in at least 25 per cent of fatal road crashes, alcohol is a factor,” Senior Constable Chris Watson, an 18-year veteran of the Traffic Branch, said.<\/p>\n

“So as you can imagine we are very keen to get these offenders off the road.<\/p>\n

\u201cQuite often we detect drink drivers offending at times and in places where they thought they never would get caught.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s no surprise to us when we catch them but it\u2019s always a very big surprise to them.<\/p>\n

“There are few acts more irresponsible than drink-driving or allowing another to drink drive.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
