Heavy machinery was called in to cut firebreaks and water-bombing helicopters despatched to help firefighters tackle a spate of fires around the South Burnett on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Fires were still burning on Wednesday afternoon at Mp Creek and Mt McEuen, west of Wondai, where the two outbreaks were threatening to merge.<\/p>\n

At 2:48pm on Wednesday, the Queensland Fire Department issued a STAY INFORMED bushfire advice warning for the Mp Creek fire which was burning between Cushnie State Forest and Fairdale Road.<\/p>\n

A second large blaze had also broken out in the Corndale area with smoke affecting residents around Memerambi.<\/p>\n

Fire-fighting helicopters were called into both the Mp Creek \/ Mt McEuen and Corndale blazes.<\/p>\n

It’s been a very busy Wednesday for local fire crews:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • CORNDALE<\/strong> – Childs Road – Fire crews have been on site since about noon; at 5:00pm, seven crews were at the scene and a QFD spokesperson said the fire was tracking northwards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • EAST NANANGO<\/strong> – East Nanango-Grindstone Road – began about 4:00pm; one crew on site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • MOUNT BINGA<\/strong> – Cooyar-Mt Binga Road – At 5:00pm, one crew on site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • MP CREEK<\/strong> – Mp Creek Road – At 5:00pm, five crews on site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • MT McEUEN<\/strong> – Mt McEuen Road – at 5:00pm, two crews on site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            • NANANGO<\/strong> – D’Aguilar Highway – Began just before 3:00pm; at 5:00pm, three crews were on site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              • TAROMEO<\/strong> – Harper Road – Began about 12:30pm; at 5:00pm, eight crews were on site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                Other fires reported in the local region on Wednesday were at Back Creek Road at Speedwell; near Harlin; in the Ban Ban Springs area near Brian Pastures Road; between Mount Victor Road and Upper Widgee Road at Widgee; between Staib Road and Brooweena-Wooloooga Road at Woolooga; and at Cotter Road, Widgee.<\/p>\n

                The fire in the Wondai Forestry was also still burning and sections of Wrattens National Park had been closed to the public due to fires.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
