BlazeAid volunteers are working on their final farms this week ahead of the wrap-up of the local project on June 24.<\/p>\n

A barbecue for volunteers was held last Saturday which also included local farming families, Rotarians from Kingaroy and Murgon, South Burnett councillor Kathy Duff \u00a0and Gympie Deputy Mayor Tony Perrett.<\/p>\n

Co-ordinator Paul Mortenson said BlazeAid Murgon had now cleared 133km and repaired or rebuilt 130km of fences .<\/p>\n

“We are working this week on our final 15 farms, having helped 73 farms to date,” he said.<\/p>\n

A “thank you” dinner to celebrate what the Murgon community has achieved over the past four months will be held on Saturday night (June 22) in Murgon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The dinner is to thank all the people who volunteered to cook for the BlazeAid volunteers or have helped in many different ways during the 2013 flood evacuation.<\/p>\n

The dinner will be held at St Joseph’s School Hall, Angel Avenue, from 6:30pm.<\/p>\n

Farmers and Blazeaid volunteers have been asked to attend.<\/p>\n

All guests are requested to bring a covered dish which will be served as a smorgasbord meal.<\/p>\n

Murgon Business and Development Association president Leo Geraghty said there would be a special appearance by singer Dean Perrett.<\/p>\n

“Let’s show our appreciation by attending, please don’t let me down, bring your friends and pack the hall,” Mr Geraghty said.<\/p>\n
