A serious insect pest has been detected in nappy pants sold in Woolworths stores throughout Australia.<\/p>\n

A Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) spokesperson said Khapra Beetle larvae were found in nappy pants in NSW.<\/p>\n

The detection was reported on\u00a0 September 7 to the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.<\/p>\n

The brand involved in the scare is: Little One\u2019s Ultra Dry Nappy Pants – Walker Size 5 (42pk).<\/p>\n

The detection was referred to DAFF, who directed that remaining stock be removed and secured.<\/p>\n

The nappy pants were sold nationally only through Woolworths stores and no other nappy sizes or brands are considered to be affected at this stage.<\/strong><\/p>\n

DAFF has urged that anyone who has purchased Little One\u2019s Nappy Pants – or any goods with signs of insect or pest activity – to not use the goods, but do not dispose of the goods or their packaging. Seal the goods and their packaging in a bag to prevent any pest spread, and call 1800-798-636 or report it online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Khapra beetles are a serious pest of stored grain and dry foodstuffs worldwide. The beetle is not currently present in Australia, and if it spreads it would pose a major threat to Australia\u2019s grains and other plant industries.<\/p>\n

Khapra beetles can cause some skin irritation and can cause allergies but do not pose an immediate risk to human health.<\/p>\n

The DAFF spokesperson said the importer and Woolworths \u2013 which stocked the product nationally \u2013 has been working with DAFF to ensure all goods associated with this shipment have been traced and treated where appropriate, to ensure they do not pose an ongoing biosecurity risk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
