Stanwell began a major overhaul of Unit 1 at Tarong Power Station this week.<\/p>\n

The project, worth nearly $70 million, is part of Stanwell’s regular maintenance program to ensure the continued delivery of reliable electricity for Queensland.<\/p>\n

A Stanwell spokesperson said this is the second planned overhaul at the Tarong power stations this year.<\/p>\n

It is due to be completed in late November, in time to support the peak summer demand period.<\/p>\n

An overhaul at Tarong North Power Station was completed last month.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said each overhaul injected about $10 million into the local community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cEach unit at the Tarong power stations undergoes a major overhaul every four years to keep them running year-round. Typically, an overhaul involves inspections, maintenance, refurbishment and replacement of plant and equipment,\u201d Stanwell CEO Michael Mr O\u2019Rourke said.<\/p>\n
