The achievements of QAS Assistant Commissioner Peta Thompson were recognised at an awards ceremony in Brisbane on Friday.<\/p>\n

Assistant Commissioner Thompson is responsible for the Darling Downs & South West Region, which includes QAS stations in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

She received the Excellence in Leadership award for empowering people through collaboration and team development.<\/p>\n

Assistant Commissioner Thompson played a major role in establishing the SOAR network (“Supporting Others to Achieve and Rise”), a platform dedicated to empowering women within the QAS.<\/p>\n

Her award was one of 10 presented at the annual Commissioner\u2019s Achievement Awards.<\/p>\n

A number of QAS staff and volunteers were presented with medals for long service, including Yarraman Local Ambulance Committee volunteer Kerry Wyvill.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ceremony also provided a solemn occasion to honour the 36 ambulance officers listed on the QAS Roll of Honour.<\/p>\n

Families of the fallen officers joined the service to remember those who lost their lives in the ultimate act of service.<\/p>\n
