Former Wondai resident Robert Smith, 53, drowned on Wednesday morning in a tragic boating accident on the Sunshine Coast.<\/p>\n

About 5:20am, police were called to reports a commercial boat had overturned with five men on board at the mouth of the Mooloolah River, between Mooloolaba and Point Cartwright.<\/p>\n

The boat washed up on Mooloolaba Beach and four people successfully made their way to shore.<\/p>\n

One man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and three other men were uninjured.<\/p>\n

Mr Smith’s body was located in the water.<\/p>\n

Investigations into the cause of the incident are continuing.<\/p>\n

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.<\/p>\n
