Everything old is new again at Nanango’s Winds of Change art gallery which has embarked on an exploration of all things medieval.<\/p>\n

At the weekend, artists were learning about the ancient art of mosaics in a two-day workshop led by the gallery’s Julia Shaw.<\/p>\n

Participants were transforming broken tiles, plates, shells, jewellery and pieces of glass into colourful creations.<\/p>\n

The mosaics were allowed to harden overnight before grouting was added on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Nanango Art Society, which operates the gallery, has begun a series of medieval workshops in a lead-up to its Medieval Month which will run during July and August.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the gallery will be hosting a Medieval Pottery Class from 10:00am to 1:00pm and next weekend (June 22-23), there’ll be a chain maille workshop.<\/p>\n

The events will culminate in a Medieval Fun Day on August 10 which will run from 9:00am to 3:00pm and include displays from the Society for Creative Anachronism from Toowoomba and a viking re-enactment troupe.<\/p>\n

This fun day will be topped off by a medieval banquet at Nanango RSL. \u00a0Tickets are being pre-sold and must be booked by July 27 (or until they’re sold out). \u00a0For more information, phone\u00a0\u00a00409-060-315.<\/p>\n

The gallery is also currently raffling a medieval-style dining room setting complete with a table, two benches and a King’s chair and Queen’s chair. Tickets are $2 each and are available at the gallery.<\/p>\n
