Gympie councillors have voted to increase rates and charges in their 2025-26 Budget<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Gympie councillors voted unanimously to increase rates by 5.5 per cent at their 2025-26 Special Budget Meeting on Thursday.<\/p>\n

However, fees and charges are also rising:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Garbage \u2013 up 7.5 per cent ($28.20 increase per year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Sewerage \u2013 up 6.5 per cent ($56.16 increase per year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Water access \u2013 up 6.5 per cent ($30.36 increase per year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Water consumption \u2013 up 10 per cent 2.05\/kl & $3.67 (up from $1.86 & $3.33)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          The Budget includes a total of $106 million set aside for capital works.<\/p>\n

          Proposed works for Gympie’s Division 6 (ie. Goomeri, Kilkivan and related areas) include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          • Goomeri Aquatic Centre Renewal – Deliver<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • Tansey Hall Restumping and Floor Renewal – Design & Deliver<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              • Breitkreutz Pavilion in Goomeri Upgrade – Design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                  \n
                • Kilkivan Lions Park Playground Renewal – Design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                    \n
                  • Watchbox Road Concrete Batter Renewal at Boonara – Design & Deliver<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                      \n
                    • Ettrickdale Road Floodway Renewal at Boonara – Design & Deliver<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                        \n
                      • Goomeri State School Pedestrian Access Improvements – Deliver (School Transport Infrastructure Program)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                          \n
                        • Goomeri Water Treatment Plant Upgrade – Design & Deliver – $2.075 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                            \n
                          • Kilkivan Water Treatment Plant Upgrade – Design & Start Delivery – $725,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                              \n
                            • Goomeri Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade – Design & Start Delivery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                                \n
                              • Kilkivan Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade – Design & Start Delivery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                On Thursday, the State Government also announced a $42 million investment through its Residential Activation Fund for the Gympie region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                Of this, $36 million will go on water infrastructure and $5.4 million to determine where future residential and industrial development should be built in the region.<\/p>\n
