Bombers were too good in the end for the South Burnett Saints’ men on Saturday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett Saints put on a strong performance against the better-ranked South Toowoomba Bombers on Saturday, but weren’t quite good enough in the end.<\/p>\n

The Saints’ kicked six goals at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy, including three by Craig Paterson, but went down 6.14-50 to 11.12-78.<\/p>\n

The Saints’ women fared a lot better, demolishing the Bombers 20.12-132 to 0.2-2.<\/p>\n

Aleisha Collins and Reanna Fenton kicked four goals apiece.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Saints’ women are sitting in second spot on the competition ladder after 13 rounds.<\/p>\n

In Under 13.5s, the Bombers were too strong, finishing ahead 13.4-82 to 4.5-29. Ezra Salmon kicked three goals for the Saints.<\/p>\n

The three teams will be in action again at Lyle Vidler Oval this Saturday (July 26) against University Cougars’ teams: Under 13.5s at 11:30am, women at 1:00pm and men at 2:45pm.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Saints are gearing up for their their annual Heritage Day on August 9.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As well as recognising its roots with the Kingaroy Bulldogs and Kingaroy Jets, the club will also be marking the 10th anniversary of its historic first premiership win in the Darling Downs AFL competition in September 2015, just three years after it was formed.<\/p>\n

All three South Burnett teams will face the Toowoomba Tigers on the day.<\/p>\n

After the men’s game wraps up there’ll be live music into the night at the clubhouse from 5:30pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
