Two of the most unusual exhibitions – and probably the most valuable – seen in the South Burnett for some time are gracing the walls of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery this month.<\/p>\n

A total of 88 works by the late William David Bryce, the South Burnett’s best-known artist of recent decades, are on display and available to buy.<\/p>\n

Also on display are works by French printmaker, the late Andr\u00e9 Minaux, including limited edition lithographs and an original gouache painting (with a price tag to match!).<\/p>\n

This is the first time the Bryce collection has been offered for sale.<\/p>\n

Nicole Miller, from Kingaroy, organised the exhibition on behalf of her family members, approaching Sotherby’s experts to get estimated sales prices for the works.<\/strong><\/p>\n

David was a family friend of Nicole’s grandmother.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs David never married or had children he left his estate to my grandmother,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were friends for over 40 years. He taught my mother art in the late \u201960s\/early \u201970s. I also learnt art with him during the 1990s.”<\/p>\n

The Bryce works on display are only a small part of the family’s collection.<\/p>\n

The Minaux pieces have been collected over the years by Nicole. She just started with one print to hang in her kitchen but then fell in love with his works.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gallery patron Cr Ros Heit told the opening night crowd that it was 25 years since David Bryce had died.<\/p>\n

“It is a privilege for our little gallery to offer this large body of work for sale under one roof,” she said.<\/p>\n
