Stanwell has announced the latest recipients of its Tarong Community Partnership Fund grants.<\/p>\n

Five community groups will benefit from funding to support their projects:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Kingaroy Touch Football Association<\/strong> \u2013 to upgrade the irrigation system at their shared ground<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Nanango Golf Club<\/strong> \u2013 to build the region\u2019s first Par 3 golf course, accessible and inclusive to all ages and abilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Nanango Theatre Company<\/strong> \u2013 to improve accessibility and capacity at the community theatre<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Cherbourg State School<\/strong> \u2013 to produce a series of short videos featuring Wakka Wakka community members sharing their career journeys and showcasing local role models who reflect students’ cultural identities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • South Burnett CTC<\/strong> \u2013 a contribution towards redeveloping their Kingaroy Youth Park Stage 1 project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            \u201cThe Tarong Community Partnership Fund is incredibly important to us, and the projects we support are as diverse as the groups that apply for funding,\u201d Stanwell General Manager Southern Generation Mick Joy said.<\/p>\n

            \u201cWhether it’s sporting clubs, schools or not-for-profits, it’s about adding value to the communities that we operate in and ensuring their sustainability into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

            A previous recipient of a Tarong Community grant was the Yarraman Heritage Centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n

            President Frank Hodgkinson said the centre had used the grant to install solar panels and a battery which has reduced the association’s electricity bills by more than 60 per cent.<\/p>\n

            \u201cThe money we\u2019ve saved is now able to be put towards maintaining the museum and operating the (Wild Horse FM) radio station, as well as enhancing our community engagement activities,\u201d Frank said.<\/p>\n

            \u201cIt’s great to be somewhat self-sufficient now to our own energy needs.”<\/p>\n

            The next round of the Tarong Community Partnership Fund will open for applications later this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
