One of Kingaroy’s favourite sporting sons, cricket star Matthew Hayden, was officially inducted into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Hayden, 53, opened for Australia for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

His Test cricket debut was against South Africa in 1994, retiring in 2009.<\/p>\n

Hayden played in 103 Tests, scoring a total of 8625 runs – including an incredible 380-run innings against Zimbabwe during the 2003 tour of Australia (a world record at the time).<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also played for Queensland, the Brisbane Heat (during the inaugural Big Bash season),\u00a0Hampshire Hawks, ICC World XI and Northamptonshire.<\/p>\n

Hayden played for the\u00a0Chennai Super Kings\u00a0in the inaugural\u00a0Indian Premier League\u00a0(IPL) in 2008 followed by more games in 2009 and 2010.<\/p>\n

His last professional T20 game was for the Brisbane Heat in 2012.<\/p>\n

Hayden was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2017.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
