The annual two-month Queensland Winter Craft Festival was officially launched at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery last Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

The festival has been hosted every June and July at the gallery since 2016.<\/p>\n

Local and visiting craftspeople take over the gallery spaces and also host a series of demonstrations and workshops.<\/p>\n

The June exhibitions feature works by six members of the North Pine Country Potters group in Galleries 1 and 2.<\/p>\n

Local potter Fay Stumm also has joined in the pottery display.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy artist Lyn Kenny’s\u00a0 exhibition, “Happiness Is A Garden”, in Gallery 3.<\/p>\n

Lyn’s works include collages combining stencils, photos, textiles, prints and quilting techniques to create celebrations of nature.<\/p>\n

Cr Danita Potter officially opened the 2025 Winter Craft Festival, describing the works on display as “amazing”.<\/p>\n

The June\u00a0 exhibitions will be changed over in July, with the galleries being refilled with patchwork, quilting, jewellery, textile art and alpaca winter woolies.<\/p>\n

Workshops & Demonstrations<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Pine Rivers potter Lyndall Petersen hosted the first workshop – which was booked out before opening night – earlier last Saturday in the 1913 Council Chambers building.<\/strong><\/p>\n

About 20 local residents learned how to hand-craft their own clay Highland “Coos”.<\/p>\n

The cattle will be dried and kiln-fired and delivered back to the workshop participants at the end of the festival.<\/p>\n
