A little rain – well, actually a lot of rain – couldn’t stop the annual President’s Cup women’s soccer game being played in Kingaroy last Friday.<\/p>\n

While the hardy spectators huddled under the awning at the Kingaroy Senior Soccer Clubhouse, the Nanango Panthers and Kingaroy Wests women battled it out on Tom Alford Oval.<\/p>\n

Wests were trailing the competition leaders Panthers 3-0 at half-time, although they had one goal attempt disallowed.<\/p>\n

The home side fired up in the second half to score two goals but couldn’t find the equaliser in an exciting game.<\/p>\n

When the final whistle sounded, Nanango was ahead 3-2.<\/p>\n

Round 7 of the South Burnett women’s competition will be back at Tom Alford Oval this Friday night: at 7:45pm, Kingaroy Easts will take on Kingaroy Wests under lights.<\/p>\n

The canteen will be open for dinner and snacks.<\/p>\n

It was a big weekend for the Panthers club.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Sunday,\u00a0 Nanango hosted its annual junior carnival on Sunday across 14 pitches at Alan Downie Sports Fields.<\/p>\n

Under 6\/7s, Under 8\/9s, Under 11\/12s and Under12\/13s players were in action in round robin games.<\/p>\n

Teams from the three South Burnett clubs took on visitors from Warwick, South Toowoomba, Park Ridge, Highfields, Dalby, Nambour, Kawana, Rockville, Gympie, Tinana, Chinchilla, Withcott and Pittsworth.<\/p>\n

In other local soccer matches played last weekend, the Kingaroy Division 1 men’s team suffered a narrow 2-1 loss on Saturday night in Kingaroy against Wests Wanderers in the Darling Downs Community Competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Division 2, the Kingaroy team notched up an impressive 7-2 win over Wanderers, much to the delight of the home crowd.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy men’s teams will be back on the road this weekend, playing at Don McPherson Oval in Dalby on Sunday:<\/p>\n

  • 11:00am – Division 2 – Kingaroy v Dalby<\/li>\n
  • 1:00pm – Division 1 – Kingaroy v Goondiwindi Roos<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Round 4 South Burnett junior soccer games were played at Wondai on Saturday, after initial fears the round could be washed out.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    In Under 12\/13s:<\/p>\n

    • Nanango Blue def. Kingaroy Blacks Electrical 9-0<\/li>\n
    • Nanango White def. Kingaroy McDonalds 12-3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      In Cadets:<\/p>\n

      • Kingaroy CTC Mechanical def. Kingaroy Refrigeration 4-2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Round 5 junior soccer games will be played at the Barambah Club’s grounds at Wondai again this Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

        This is the last round to be played at Wondai, before the juniors switch to Nanango’s grounds next weekend.<\/p>\n

        Registrations are now open for the 2025 MiniRoos program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

        The program, for boys and girls aged 3-5, will begin on June 21 and run for four weeks at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Nanango.<\/p>\n
